Hollin Farms

So … THIS is what Delaplane, Virginia is like.  Delaplane is far – far, far away.  OK, it’s only 50 miles from the Capital, but given city living and local traffic, it might as well be in Tennessee.  Why were we there?  Well, the intrigue of a pick your own farm in the area was too much to ignore.  City living breeds a nostalgia for things like lawn.  So it was fun to drive out and see if some truly restaurant quality strawberries or snow peas were available.

The farm in its glory. Clear urban sprawl, no?
Snow Peas

Obviously the strawberries and peas were gorgeous.  Combined with the chance to get over arugula, bok choy and beets for just over $20 combined – it is worth the trek out.  I know there are other farms in the area – but for a little foray into quaint domesticity, it’s hard to complain.
