The big move up from last week was Oregon shooting up to #2 from last week.  As one imagines, Stanford was not punished so much.

What this means to the BCS status?

  1. Alabama and Oregon get the top two positions.
  2. The Big 12, SEC, Big East, ACC, Pac 10 and Big Ten champs … Oklahoma State, Alabama, West Virginia, Miami-FL, Oregon and Ohio State
  3. TCU remains the highest rated non-BCS, though they slipped to #11 with their sleepy effort against Colorado State.
  4. Notre Dame is a non-issue.
  5. Florida as the #3 and a non-automatic qualifies.

So as usual, this leaves two at large slots.  Looking at the non-SEC Top 14 teams left, the field is Stanford, Iowa, Arizona, Missouri, Nebraska.   Of this, Iowa and Arizona get the bids.

Slotting these, the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl lose their teams, so TCU slots in to the Rose Bowl.  Sugar, Orange, Fiesta get the choices otherwise.

  • Title Game: Alabama vs Oregon
  • Rose Bowl: TCU vs Ohio State
  • Sugar Bowl: Florida vs Iowa
  • Orange Bowl: Miami vs West Virginia
  • Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State vs Arizona
