2013 College Basketball – 3/10/2013

As always based on the power rankings which are faithfully updated (well, semi-regularly), and consequently the 68 team “should” field.  We will try to do this at least a couple of times this week, now that Championship Week has started in earnest.  We already know that some teams are in the field.  We also know that some dead regular season champs are in the NIT field.  As such we can include an NIT projection as well – though for that we observe no seeding “rules” like we do for the NCAA. (teams “in” are italics)

Some quick comments:

  • Funny what the last week did.  Earlier this week, Indiana’s loss to Ohio State moved it off of the top line, but now they are back, but still behind Louisville in the race for Indianapolis.
  • Middle Tennessee lost in the Sun Belt semifinals, and my rankings have them still in.  Frankly, in real life they are on the bubble at best – though Kentucky must be awfully nervous as this move in these rankings pushed them off the bubble.
  • The NIT field below is a reflection of the bubble as well as the teams which have won regular season titles but lost out on automatic bids to the Big Dance.
